SNAPPED

One of my favorite shows is called Snapped. The show addresses the topic of women who commit crimes of murder. The show has a successful rating and audience who are interested in understanding why many women continue to kill their lovers, friends, or anyone else that makes them upset. I have watched Snapped for years and it seems that each season their continues to be more stories of women who kill. Before this show started, I was unaware of the number of women who killed. The stereotype before this show was that women who killed was a small number and the killing method that women used were poisons instead of brutal murders. The killings on this show range from shootings, hit man plots, and poisoning one spouse with anti-freeze.

The reason that the majority of the women featured on the show killed is because they wanted to collect their spouses insurance policies. In class when we talked about violence we did not address the topic of women who kill. I think this is a topic that I could have given my opinion on since I watch every episode of Snapped and try to understand why women continue to kill.

Transform Me Season 2 Drag Race Winner

Another Show that debuted this season is Transform me, the concept of this show is for a group of transgender people drive around in an ambulance and give women makeovers. This show is showing that television is changing and that one day every group will have a television show that they can identify with.

Tyra Sanchez is the Winner.

These last few months, the one of many show that has been getting me through the nightime television is Rupaul’s Drag Race. I love this show. I had to alway see it on Tuesday nights at 10PM. After all the petty drama a new Drag superstar won. The three finalist were Tyra, Jujubee, and Raven. Tyra throughout the season was flawless, but was always the circle of drama when the girls fought. My favorite queen finalist were Jujubee and Raven. I can not wait until season 3 of Drag Race.

Women Soldier Homeless After Military Service

I recently saw a news clip addressing the issues of women serving in the military. The two women's stories that were addressed in the news clip related to the issues inequality between the gender roles in society. The service women who come home from serving in Afghanistan and Iraq are at a higher risk than men soldiers at becoming homeless. The reason this happens is because the women's lack of education level and lower wages compared to men.

I was unaware of the alarming number of women becoming homeless after protecting this country and I thought this was disappointing to hear. We as a country have been at war for close to a decade and some people are becoming unpatriotic for this country and for these women to want to service and know that they possible can be killed and they continue to be soldiers. I think more benefits should be given to the soldiers. Not just women soldiers, but men soldiers as well.
